Kisspeptin peptides are widely used in research on neuroendocrine signaling because they activate KISS1R, also known as GPR54. Kisspeptin-10 is the C-terminal decapeptide sequence commonly used to investigate receptor activation, intracellular signaling, and hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal-axis model biology.

A receptor-centered framework

KISS1R is a G-protein-coupled receptor. Published research describes kisspeptin-driven signaling through pathways that can include Gq/11-associated calcium mobilization and kinase-linked responses.
